Southern Pacific evolved out of a bunch of musicians who where doing session work for people like Emmylou Harris, the Kendalls, Karen Brooks, and Johnny Cash. They thought about what would happen if they went to a studio and recorded music they wanted to hear. That's how Southern Pacific saw the light of day. John McFee and Keith Knudsen of the Doobie Brothers have been founding members of this hot country-rock band. In the beginnig they had James Burton and Albert Lee on guitar, who both left before the first album was recorded. The self titled debut album was highly succesful and spawned a number of country chart hits for the band. Their other albums were also well received. Despite Southern Pacific's success the band split up because of management problems. |
